CULTURAL EXCHANGE COLLECTIONS
My name is Flo M. I am an international fashion consultant and for over twenty years have worked with clothes and accessories.
Accessories make the wardrobe!
On my first trip to Africa I visited the Ivory Coast and was invited to dinner by a ninety five year old lady. During the dinner I watched this lady serve and eat in the traditional way and I tried to emulate her. Little did I know that she was also watching me and later told me that I was a Toubab. I asked her what was a Toubab and she said the word has many meanings but for me she meant “One who can embrace the culture of another”.

Twenty years later in a hair salon back in Paris browsing through a magazine I came across pictures of gorgeous African wax fabric necklaces and the word Toubab. This immediately got my attention so I contacted the Designer. When I stepped into her studio I was immediately transported back to the Ivory Coast and the Studio Hut of the 95 year old Lady.
Here in Paris was a replica of that studio with all the African wax fabric designs, trunks, beads and jewellery. The designer was a young French girl. She showed me her then current collection of necklaces and I knew right away that she was the designer I wanted to work with!
Toubab Paris Bahamas jewellery is above all unique pieces made by the designer herself. Inspired by colors, journeys and encounters, Maud Villaret recovers and transforms materials and objects in a way that piques your imagination. Each piece is unique and is packaged in a bazin pouch.
